Switch between Firefox tabs with the keyboard

There are two basic kinds of computer users: mouse lovers and keyboard freaks. The first group prefers to manage their PC with the mouse - which they find easier and more intuitive - while the second defends the keyboard as the faster method to work with a computer.

Now, if you fall on this second group, you're going to like this little app.

SwiftTabs is a Firefox extension that enables you to move around browser tabs with the keyboard.

This is not something new because Firefox actually allows you to jump between tabs with special shortcut keys (Ctrl plus the number corresponding to each tab on the tabbar).

What SwiftTabs does is improving this functionality by letting you choose which exact keyboard shortcut you want to use to move left, move right, close or reopen a closed tab in the tabbar.

Keyboard shortcuts accept just about any key combination. The only trouble you'll have is remembering them and not mixing them with the other shortcuts you've already learned.

SwiftTabs allows you to assign shortcuts to tab switching and closing in Firefox. This extension allows you to assign your own shortcuts to moving tab left/right, closing the current tab and restoring recently closed tab.

PROS

  • Supports using any key combination

CONS

  • A few more keyboard shortcuts to remember
